WHO WE ARE

A certified small business, Systems Design & Analysis was established in 1986.  One of SDA’s early projects was providing engineering support of the Navy’s Standard Electronic Module (SEM/SHARP) Program at Naval Air Warfare Center (NAWC), Indianapolis, and in 1992, Naval Surface Warfare Center (NSWC), Crane.  This effort established multiple standardized form-fit factors for Navy electronics, which became widely used in shipboard and aircraft systems.

Under several small busines contracts with NSWC Crane, SDA has provided engineering and logistics services to the Trident Fleet Ballistic Missile (FBM) Program, the Navy Advanced Signal Processor (ASP), Enhanced Modular Signal Processor (EMSP), Crane’s Diminishing Technology Center, and the Battle Force Tactical Training (BFTT) System. SDA established a satellite office to provide support to NSWC, Crane, in southern Indiana.  SDA was contracted to provide engineering and logistic services to the Trident Fleet Ballistic Missile (FBM) Program, the Navy Advanced Signal Processor (ASP), Enhanced Modular Signal Processor (EMSP), Crane’s Diminishing Technology Center, and the Battle Force Tactical Training (BFTT) System.  SDA also performed obsolescence analysis and sustainment of electronics in APG-65 Radar, Phalanx gun system, F-18 Hybrid and Analog Test Station suites for a NATO ally.

Working with several commercial customers, SDA performed technical analysis and developed engineering studies for General Motors Anti-Lock Brake, engine controller, ABS controller and body controller systems, Cummins Electronics Auto-Shift engine and transmission systems.  SDA also performed reliability analysis on competing ignition systems during GM’s Northstar engine development.

During this period, SDA became involved with Crane’s cable and harness manufacturing facilities.  In 2006, Crane divested certain support activities and the cable and harness fabrication assets were moved off-base, which today SDA and AECOM/URS Federal Services operate commercially in WestGate Technology Park facilities.  SDA’s Electronic Manufacturing & Repair Facility, located outside NSWC, Crane, Indiana, manufactures build-to-print and custom electronic cables and harnesses for multiple defense and commercial applications.

In 2014, we relocated our business office to Greenwood, Indiana, as we continue to support engineering and logistics for multiple programs at NSWC, Crane, with technical staff stationed in strategic locations around the country, and successfully operate the Electronic Manufacturing & Repair Facility.

Systems Design & Analysis has nearly three decades working successfully with different types of contracts.  These include multiple prime contracts for technical services, small business set-aside contract awards, subcontracting with large contractors including URS Federal Services and SAIC, Multiple-Award Contract (MAC) Basic Ordering Agreements, teaming agreements and simple purchase orders.
