Example Program Summaries
Trident FBM Program
SDA provides engineering, technical and logistic services for the transportation of Trident missile motors. This support ranges from the redesign for the next generation railcar to individual elements of the critical environmental management systems for all transportation vehicles. SDA provides on-site maintenance and repair of all transport equipment. SDA has led design teams consisting of Navy, prime contractor, subcontractors, and consultants on related sustainment redesign and reverse engineering projects, and provided contract management and quality control for past efforts. Additionally, SDA engineers have supported component reliability analysis of the Trident Fire Control System, provided electronic component management support, and participated in design and analysis of MTRE and MMSC subsystems.
Airborne Electro-Optic Systems
SDA provided logistic and procurement support for Marine Corps and Air Force electro-optic sensor systems. Efforts involved stand-up of depot and operational logistics for the AN/AAQ-30 EO/IR system deployed on the AH-1Z Viper, including logistic planning analysis and reporting, repair analysis, supply support technical documentation and peculiar support equipment for the NAVAIR Program Office, and coordinating with the prime contractor. SDA assisted the NSWC, Crane, project office in the procurement of the sensor system and related support services, including planning, documentation development, and coordination with program assets. SDA also provided logistic support of depot repair planning and implementation, supply chain planning and technical documentation for the EO/IR systems on the Air Force Predator MQ-1 and MQ-9 UAV’s.
Signal Processing Systems
Under small business contracts with NSWC, Crane, SDA engineers and technicians provided on-site, field change and field repair technical support to Navy platforms with sensors and weapons that incorporated the Advanced Signal Processor (ASP) or Enhanced Modular Signal Processor (EMSP) subsystems. Technical support included engineering change review and processing; reliability, technology insertion and obsolescence analysis; subsystem mechanical engineering, thermal analysis, shock and vibration evaluation; and thermal, packaging and power system design for an advanced commercial variant (ACV) COTS EMSP evaluation project. Systems employing the ASP or EMSP included AEGIS, AN/BSY-1(V), AN/BSY-2(V), AN/SQQ-89(V) subsurface sensors, and AN/UYK-44/43(V).
Leveraging engineering and technical experience and techniques from support of DoD programs, SDA has also provided similar services to multiple commercial and industrial facilities. Among our customers were General Motors and Cummins Electronics and efforts included Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA), Worst Case Design Analysis, reliability studies, and test equipment and processes for developmental and production subsystems.
